Origin Design Studio began as a limited company in March 2012, having previously worked as in house designers for an engineering practice. In 2019 we became an RIBA Chartered practice and were a Regional Finalist in the LABC Building Excellence Awards.
We specialise, although not exclusively, in residential projects of varying scale including self build, new build, barn conversions, extensions, listed buildings and loft conversions. We are currently expanding our commercial portfolio with office developments, leisure and retail projects and work on heavy and light industry buildings.
We are a refreshing and talented team of architectural designers based on the outskirts of the historical city of Lincoln. We are truly passionate about buildings and are happiest when designing them. We pride ourselves in adopting a fresh approach and our skills extend to designing all types of building. We believe in providing tailored solutions for each and every project and ensure we maintain communication with our clients throughout the process.
The majority of our work is focused around the Lincolnshire region, although we have seen an increasing amount of work coming from the London area. We believe we can offer the same high quality, good value service to all, no matter the location.
We offer a bespoke service ranging from planning and building regulations to a full architectural service as lead consultants. We can tailor our service to suit the project scale and budget. We are able to produce various drawings and imagery from 2D plans through to 3D models, either computer generated or solid physical models.
We are advocates of sustainability and enjoy educating ourselves in the latest technologies and advances.

DIRECTOR AND RIBA CHARTERED ARCHITECT
Michael joined the practice in 2015. He studied all parts of his architectural education at the University of Lincoln and in 2018 became a fully qualified RIBA Chartered Architect.
He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of architectural projects in the office but has a keen eye for unlocking the potential of a site through the planning process and good design. He also tutors part time at Nottingham Trent University teaching second year undergraduate students.
Michael is originally from Kent where he gained experience in the Design Team for a Regional Housing Developer and in the Urban Design Team of a Planning Consultant. Since relocating to Lincolnshire he is now based north of Lincoln in the town of Kirton-in-Lindsey where is working as part of a local community team to develop a ‘Neighbourhood Plan' for the town.
Away from architecture, he enjoys playing cricket for Messingham CC. He can also been found taking part in Parkrun most Saturday mornings.
RIBA CHARTERED ARCHITECT
Daniel studied Undergraduate and Postgraduate Architecture at Nottingham Trent University. He joined the practice in 2016 during his Part 1 placement. Upon returning to university for his Part 2 studies he continued to work at Origin during the university holidays. After completing his formal studies he returned to Origin Design Studio as a full time member of staff and prepared for his final Part 3 examinations at the AA School of Architecture. He successfully passed the exams and became a Chartered Architect in December 2021.
After graduating in 2019 he was invited to become a module lead for the Architecture Undergraduate Second Year, designing a module aimed to teach students digital and analogue representation techniques, vital for their continued studies and professional work. In 2022, following the development of a module, Daneil was asked to become a studio tutor for the second year studio module.
Whilst at university Daniel discovered a love for Hockey and Rowing. He competed across the country, including Henely Royal Regatta and on the Thames in London. He is still very active in the hockey world both playing and umpiring, where he has recently become a regional qualified umpire and is working towards National Level.
PART 2 ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT
Olivia joined Origin Design Studio in 2017 as a Part I Architectural Assistant after completing her Undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln. Gaining two years of practical experience, Olivia returned to university for her Master’s degree in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University. Whilst studying for her Masters at Oxford Brookes, she undertook a specialism in ‘Research Led Design’ for which her work was subsequently nominated for the Part 2 Dissertation RIBA Presidents Medal in 2020.
She has now returned to the practice as a Part II Architectural Assistant and works remotely from Southend in Essex. As a result, this has allowed Origin to establish a satellite office in the South of England to undertake more projects in Essex and London. Once settled in Southend, Olivia aims to progress onto her Part 3 qualification to become a Chartered Architect.
When not at work, she spends time improving her strength through weight lifting at her local gym and to relax enjoys going for long walks along Southend seafront.
